Motion detection for battery-powered devices
Motion detection and event recording
On supported battery cameras, a PIR sensor detects changes in infrared radiation and can wake the camera. Image-based detection then evaluates the scene according to the model's supported detection features and settings. Available detection types vary by model.
Recording length and retrigger interval
Power modes, clip-length limits and intervals between triggers depend on the camera model and firmware. Check the controls available in that camera's settings; a 20-second clip or 60-second interval is not a universal default. Longer clips and shorter intervals can increase battery consumption.
Events versus phone notifications
Detection settings determine whether an event is triggered. Phone push-notification settings determine whether a notification appears on the phone; turning off phone notifications does not itself disable event detection.
If no events appear, check the camera's detection switches, sensitivity and applicable schedules. If events appear but no phone notification arrives, check the app's notification setting and the phone's notification permission for the app. Recording availability also depends on the configured local or cloud storage service.
