Motion Detection, Modes & Automation

How does motion detection work, and how do I optimize it?

Battery cameras use a PIR sensor: when it detects a heat source (like a person), the camera wakes and records.

  • Install the camera within ~20–30 ft of the detection area; mount it in a corner so movement crosses the field of view.
  • Avoid pointing at glass, air vents, or A/C to reduce false triggers.
  • Tune settings in Device Settings → Smart Detection (Activity Zone, Detection Types, Sensitivity 7–30 ft) and Power Management → Customized (Video Length 10–120 s, Retrigger Interval 5–60 s).

There's a delay between motion events

By default there is a retrigger interval — after one event, the next detection happens ~1 minute later (default 60 s). Change it in live view → Power Management → Customized → edit Retriggered Interval. Shorter intervals and longer clips consume more battery.

What are the four Security modes?

On the Security page you can configure Home, Away, Sleep, and Disarmed modes. For each mode you set device behavior: Record Videos, Push Notification, and Camera Alarm. You must select a location first (tap the top-left corner).

How do I switch modes?

  • Manually on the home page.
  • By Schedule: Security → Schedule → create rules.
  • By Geofencing: Security → Geofencing → set your home location and enable it (the app needs your location to know if you're home).

Geofencing isn't working (iOS)

Allow the app Always and Precise Location, and allow it to run in the background.

My schedule triggers at the wrong time

  • Reset your Time Zone (sidebar → User Settings → Time Zone).
  • Recheck the device behavior for the relevant mode (Security → e.g. Disarmed).
  • There may be a brief switching delay; also make sure the app is updated.

The camera still triggers in Disarmed mode

  • Confirm the app is actually in Disarmed mode.
  • Confirm Recording and Siren are turned off for that device under Security → Disarmed.
  • Switching can take a short moment. If it still triggers, send support the device ID (under the QR code, starts with A0 or 00) and the approximate time so our team can investigate.

How do I turn off the alarm/siren?

On the bottom bar tap Security, then turn off Camera Alarm for the device in each of the four modes.

What is Automation?

On the Automation page tap Create an Automation to link devices — one device acts as a trigger to make other devices perform an action.
