# Does the camera record videos when offline?

An offline status does not necessarily mean the camera has lost power. Whether it can continue recording locally depends on the camera model, power, recording and detection settings, and the condition of its local storage.

A camera without power cannot record. A camera with power but no network connection may still save local recordings if its supported recording function and storage are working. Cloud recording requires a working connection to upload footage; an active cloud subscription alone does not prove that an event was uploaded.

After the camera reconnects, check the relevant local or cloud playback source and the date and time you need. If footage is missing, please send the camera model, the affected date/time and time zone, and a screenshot of the playback page. Do not clear storage or remove the camera while the recordings are being investigated.
